Kathryn Thomas is a third-year student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Southern California and her MBA at the University of Denver Daniels College of Business.
During the summer of 2012, Kathryn completed an externship at The Boney Law Firm where she gained experience drafting petitions, summonses, motions, complaints, and contracts. In the fall of 2012, she was a student-attorney with the Civil Litigation Clinic where she co-authored a Colorado Supreme Court brief. As part of a two-student team, she represented a client in court at a permanent protection order hearing and obtained all of the desired provisions as part of the order. In addition, she obtained favorable outcomes for a client during negotiations in an eviction proceeding and for a client at an unemployement insurance hearing.
In the spring of 2013, Kathryn completed an externship with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She is continuing with the National MS Society during the summer of 2013 and the 2013-2014 school-year as a legal intern and assists the Chief Legal Officer with legal research, drafting documents, and designing and implementing internal policies.
In 2009, Kathryn founded a non-profit, Free Food 4 Families, to help feed Denver families in need. She performed all marketing, fundraising, purchasing, distribution, and accounting functions for the organization.
Kathryn is a marathon runner and is currently training for her fifth marathon. She also enjoys golfing, skiing, and rock-climbing.
