Alec Van Wagoner
Alec Van Wagoner is a second-year law student and Tax LLM candidate at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Originally from South Texas, Alec obtained his bachelor's degree in history from the University of Texas at Austin. Upon graduating, Alec enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was assigned as a defense paralegal to assist Army JAGs with defending soldiers facing trials and other criminal actions in Hawaii.
Currently, Alec serves as a Teaching Assistant for students enrolled in Lawyering Process I and II. Alec's interest in corporate law began at UT, where, as part of a research seminar, he studied how independent Texan telephone companies sought to survive and compete against the Bell Telephone Company—one of the largest monopolies in world history—in early 1900s Texas. He aspires to learn more about securities law, compliance, government investigations, and corporate and business law more generally.
When Alec isn't attending law school classes or studying in the law library, he is at home watching shows, playing video games, planning his next hike, or buying and selling vinyl records. Connect with Alec on LinkedIn to learn more about his prior experiences.
